R&D Engineer - Polymer Materials (with industry experience)

Within Aliaxis Research & Technology Center, we are looking for a R&D ENGINEER - POLYMER MATERIALS who will manage medium term R&D projects and technology developments in her/his field of expertise.

The role

The role of R&D Engineer is based in Elancourt, and has the following objectives:

  • Manage medium term R&D projects and/or technologies development within time / quality & budget.
  • Perform and supervise activities as part of the projects related to his or her field of expertise. Mastering the theoretical understanding of the work to be performed.
  • Contribute to cross functional teams by developing new and improved state of the art technologies through experience and scientific knowledge.
  • Contribute to supplying sustainable solutions and to recyclability.
  • Act as a reference in its own discipline by sharing knowledge, mentoring, and coaching less experienced team members.

Requirements

Our ideal profile will have several years of experience as R&D Engineer in the plastics industry, combined with a solid Project Management expertise, as well as a fluent level in English and French. Competences and passion in design for sustainability and recycling are a strong plus.

More concretely, the key requirements for the role can be summarized as follows:

  • 5 years minimum of relevant industry experience (of which experience within a R&D environment in the plastics industry).
  • Master’s engineering degree in Materials Science or/and Polymers Chemistry.
  • In-depth knowledge of structure-property-performance relationship, polymer/additive characterization, and polymer processing.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in materials chemical compatibility/chemical resistance.
  • Experience of designing scientific research in a R&D team (industry sector), analyze and interpret the data.
  • Competences in design for sustainability and recycling would be a plus
  • Solid project management expertise in a corporate environment. Project management certification is a plus.
  • Practical experience to perform testing using a variety of lab instruments, understand real life service conditions and author technical reports derived from lab notes.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and in French.

Infrastructure Cloud Architect

Location: Ixelles, Brussels, Belgium, IT, Full time

The Infrastructure Cloud Architect is responsible for the design and build of the cloud computing architecture that all businesses rely on. This involves working on cloud infrastructure & security designs, cloud approval plans, integration designs, and systems required to manage cloud usage, security, and cost tracking.

The role is based in Brussels, within our Global Headquarters.

Reporting into the Head of Global Cloud Services, you will handle the following responsibilities:

  • Identify the top cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet the infrastructure needs of the company.
  • Translate project-specific requirements into cloud topologies which meet the project needs in terms of resource usage and scalability.
  • Complete the integration of new applications into the cloud environment.
  • Offer training and guidance to colleagues in contact with the cloud infrastructure.
  • Manage the External Service Delivery Provider in order to maximize the utilization of the infrastructure & cloud services while ensuring quality excellence.
  • Oversee the troubleshooting of a wide variety of technical problems and functions as a Subject Matter Expert for high priority/severe issues.

Requirements:

  • 2-5+ years' experience designing, implementing, and supporting IT cloud solutions in an international environment, especially within Azure
  • Solid ITIL service management & SLA reporting experience
  • Experience in managing 3rd parties and vendors
  • Fluent in English, French and/or Dutch is a plus

Technical competencies:

Water Management R&D Program Leader

Reporting to the Director Research & Technology, the R&D Program Leader will manage the programs & projects on water management / anti-contamination, by:

  • generating and managing the pipeline of projects and exploratory topics (from initiation to closure, scoping, planning, budget, change, risks, reporting, etc).
  • coordinate and provide guidance to project teams (R&D engineers and technicians) in the R&T center(s).
  • ensure that the projects produce the required deliverables, targeting the achievement of the potential benefits defined in the business case.
  • liaise with all types of internal stakeholders, as well as external contacts (universities, customers, suppliers, technology partners…).

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of R&D project management experience in an industrial sector, with a focus on water management/environment topics.
  • Master or Ph.D. Degree in Biology or Chemistry
  • Experience with polymers is a plus.
  • Fluent English.
  • Extensive understanding of project & program management principles.
  • Proficient use of R&D project management tools is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills (incl. presenting experience to Senior Leadership).
  • Decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions, and identifying priorities.

Group Strategy Manager / Analyst

Location: Brussels, Belgium, Strategy, Full time

We’re looking for two strategic thinkers to join our growing Strategy team. We are looking for the most dynamic and inspiring candidates and will hire at the appropriate experience level ( analyst, senior analyst, manager or director level).

Typically we’ve found profiles from top-tier consulting firms or leading corporate strategy teams, but we are open to compelling profiles from other backgrounds.

The strategy team works with the CEO, Executive team, and Board to craft & refine our overarching strategy. This includes topics like where we should expand globally, how our value proposition should evolve, and how we can lead on sustainability.

In addition, we work closely with the regional business units to solve their most difficult strategic problems on topics as diverse as what products to bring to market, what players we should acquire, or how we can serve the market in a more sustainable manner. We serve as internal consultants for much of the business, working on the most important topics that can drive the most impact.

The strategy team not only plays a critical role in delivering on Aliaxis’ purpose, but it is also a talent pipeline for the company. We are seeking high potential candidates for the strategy team today that will be the future leaders of the company tomorrow. We have a strong track record of promoting strategy team members to other roles within the business.

The roles are based in our headquarter in Brussels and will require up to 30% of travelling.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for reviewing/updating Aliaxis corporate strategy, in coordination with all stakeholders involved, with the purpose of making it dynamic and action-oriented;
  • Prepare strategy presentations for the executive committee, global leadership team and company board, including quarterly board reporting on market and competition;
  • Run a structured M&A sourcing process, including management of due diligence, with potential to play an integral role in the execution and integration phase;
  • Initiate and drive strategic projects (e.g. growth opportunities, new business models).

Requirements

  • Strong pro-activity and drive, ability to hit the ground running;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills - Fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills;
  • Experience with due diligence/mergers management is a plus but not required ;
  • Direct experience of the sectors within which Aliaxis operates would be advantageous but not essential;
  • Being successful in the roles will require to be effective at engaging and leading across levels, functions, businesses and geographies - drafting clear and direct messages.
