Electrification Engineer

 

Location: Modena, IT

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION

CNH Industrial is looking for many engineers responsible for the development and integration of a complete high voltage electrified sub-system (Architecture, High Voltage/Power Components, Energy storage and Control Software) into an off-highway products.

Above engineers will support the entire V-cycle development process within specific design steps including definition of:

  • formal system requirements & specifications
  • electrical and electronic architecture and functionalities
  • High Voltage HW requirements and component selection (motor, generator, inverters)
  • energy storage requirements and component selection
  • main SW requirements and implementation
  • overall system performance achievement and support to product validation

The position will be accountable of all the tasks linked to the relevant design step, managing the electrical & electronic integration of the electrification sub-system from concept defined through to production.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own, manage and release electrification functional requirements, system requirements and specifications according the V-model for development.
  • Support electrification high voltage system architecture definition, taking into account technology and product/customer performance expectations
  • collaborate with electrification team colleagues and other technical functions in a matrix structure according to meet project deliverables
  • Support safety assessment of controlled systems (in line with Homologation/Directives/Liability Laws)
  • Guarantee integration & correct functionality of electrical system components.
  • Support System Validation Specifications and test plan definition
  • Support standardization of Systems and Functions among different platforms
  • Development planning in line with GPD process (Priorities, milestones, prototype definition, etc.)
  • Support project reviews & milestones with documented status updates

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

The Qualified Candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronic/Electronic Engineering or another related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in HV component engineering, HV system development, schematics and vehicle integration
  • 3+ years’ experience in drivetrain control and software development or similar
  • Knowledge of Vehicle Communication Protocol (CAN, LIN) and their functional requirements
  • Fluent English.

 

The Preferred Candidate will have:

  • Master’s Degree in Mechatronic/Electronic Engineering
  • Agricultural or Construction Equipment background or relevant experience in off road machinery engineering.
  • Experience with V-Model and Agile Software Development Processes.
  • Experience on Model Based System Engineering.

Embedded Software Developer

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

As a Precision Electronics and Embedded System Organization team member, the Embedded Software Developer will support the introduction of a new Services Oriented Architecture Middleware with a structured software architecture. They will assist lead software engineers and will be responsible for the design, development and testing of new software features, software specifications, as well as supporting the software/system integration. The Embedded Software Engineer will work in continuous coordination with other global team members, with other departments, with suppliers and with other project stakeholders following SAFe process.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work cohesively as a member of a development team, collaborating as needed with other members of the team with the end goal of maximizing quality and delivering on schedule.
  • Design core software features that are scalable, portable, and maintainable which allows for easier transitions to new and different hardware platforms.
  • Writing software code, embedded programs, and system protocols.
  • Implementing effective repairs, modifications, and upgrades to the embedded code.
  • Follow established corporate and project-level Software Development Processes, ensuring consistency of development standards.
  • Participate in peer design and code reviews to ensure the best design and detect/resolve software bugs early in the development process.
  • Participate in problem resolutions of software issues utilizing industry known best practices.
  • Provide issue recommendations and helps oversee supplier corrective actions, traveling to supplier sites as needed to facilitate communication between engineering and suppliers.
  • Author SW specifications and design SW architectures
  • Design automatic testing routines
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any system issues. Understand control systems, sub-systems, and component requirements of all systems. Lead verification and validation planning, as well as compliance assessment and reporting. Manage all documentation, change control, and traceability.
  • Use CI/CD systems (such as Gerrit, Jernkins, Jfrog), bug tracking systems (such as Polarion, Jira) and adhere to the policies and practices followed by other software engineers across various teams.
  • Participate to requirements analysis activities and provide inputs to software development teams.
  • Work in tandem with system engineers to design the software functionality in detail.
  • Establish test procedures and systems for inspection of software.
  • Help evaluate design gaps by comparing existing Commercial-Off-The-Shelf software and custom developed software.
  • Maintain and communicate software development status and risk to management and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the creation of project status reports and provides frequent progress updates to direct supervisor and relevant project managers.
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, and management of software develop project plans.
  • Travel, as necessary, to supplier facilities, test facilities, and customer field sites to gather data, resolve problems and explore software design alternatives.

 

KEY COMPETENCES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar
  • Minimum 5 years of embedded software development on Yocto/Linux
  • Expertise in SOA Middleware

Engine and ATS System Design Engineer

 

Technical position responsible for the definition and integration of engine and ATS components in the vehicle. Collaborates with Product Management and Vehicle Product Development to define Customer and System Requirements & Specifications including system performance optimization (Power absorptions, heating/cooling, vibrations) vs. operational performance expectations and validation requirements. Works with external suppliers and partners to define component sizing and electronic controls methodologies to ensure optimal vehicle performance, affordability and operator ease of use.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Defines vehicle and system requirements versus vehicle operational functions.
  • Defines and optimizes engine and ATS architectures.
  • Works with Vehicle Product Engineering and other Functional Engineering teams to integrate ATS systems into the vehicle.
  • Understands system components and complexity (Sub-Assembly groups, BOM, standardization, optimization of options).
  • Defines System and Vehicle Validation Specifications and test plan definition
  • Secures standardization of Systems and Functions among different platforms

Machine Control-Automation Engineer

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible for the design, development and integration of precision machine controls, vehicle system & function automation and autonomy technology to solve customer use cases and optimize the effectiveness and profitability of the machine. Collaborates with engineering teams within Vehicle Electronics, Construction Equipment Product Engineering, Precision Solutions and Advanced Technologies & Innovation to define, develop and integrate automated solutions that are easy to use and operate into construction equipment vehicles. Collaborates with strategic partners and suppliers for new controls development and integration for Construction Equipment including precision controls, automation and autonomy. Works closely with the Construction Equipment Digital Solutions team, CE Product Engineering, VE Construction Integration team, Suppliers & Technology Partners, Hardware and Software Core team, Design Analysis and Simulation team and Test Lab during the design and development of Vehicle control solutions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

The Qualified Candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronic, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering or another related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in off-road or automotive industry with ADAS, automation, robotics or autonomous product development

  • Master’s Degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Mechanical engineering or similar fields
  • Experience in vehicle design and development of advanced controls including Artificial Intelligence, Non-linear and Adaptive controls.
  • Experience in Vehicle system EE engineering; preferable in Electrical and Electronic Systems Engineering
  • Experience with System Engineering.
  • Ideal candidates will have strong grasp of computer science fundamentals, solid background in ADAS systems, a history of implementing sensor fusion algorithms, and experience with deploying perception solutions for autonomous vehicles.
  • Experience with multiple sensor systems such as LIDAR, RADAR, cameras, etc. including experience with in-vehicle hardware validation/verification with systems such as lidar, radar, cameras, GPS, IMUs, etc

Platform Program Manager

 

Drive the overall program planning working closely with Chief Engineering and Product Management coordinating the product road map, requirements and technical solutions executing through robust validation into production and delivery to the customer.

 

RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Lead a cross functional team to develop CE products, delivering into production on time while meeting and exceeding performance, quality, and cost targets.
  • Monitor and steer the execution of the program according to the targets.
  • Communicate program status, key decisions, and risks to management.
  • Manage the program budget, set targets, and track progress on KPI’s, for example: R&D, NRE, vendor tooling, material cost, manufacturing investments.
