Maintenance/Mechanical Engineer (f/m/x)

About you

As a Maintenance/Mechanical Engineer, you are tackling plant issues that impact production over a short period of time. You are the technical expert in troubleshooting failures, repairs, and routine maintenance. You will coordinate design activities to produce information and documentation for the piping, civil and electrical disciplines.

Also, you can complete each of the following tasks:

  • Define and conduct research on projects using advanced knowledge of scientific principles, theory, and experimental design within a scientific discipline.
  • Provide experience on failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations.
  • Provide technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating whether equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions.
  • During repairs ensure that repair details such as clearances, tolerances, materials of construction, welding procedures, etc. are provided and documented. Provide technical support as needed.
  • Provide technical support for specification, identification and purchasing of needed parts.
  • Develop maintenance procedures based on Most Effective Technology (MET).
  • Participate in developing the maintenance budget to support the maintenance strategy.
  • During development of turnaround work, provides input on scope of work.
  • Evaluate Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM) activities and determine appropriate actions. 

Required qualifications:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • You are either a fresh graduate or you have 3 years or more of relevant experience (i.e., engineering, manufacturing or related).
  • You are fluent in English.

Your preferred qualifications include:

  • You have a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • You have prior industrial or process experience.
  • You are preferably knowledgeable of the Dutch language.

About you

As a Civil Engineer you are predominately responsible for civil/structural design (i.e., Structural Steel, Concrete Foundations, Piling, Pipe Supports, etc.).  You will provide specialized civil expertise and solutions for maintenance within inspections and compliance related projects at a variety of plants at the Terneuzen site. Furthermore, you will supervise designers to develop and assemble contract packages in accordance with the project schedule. The successful candidate will be expected to quickly learn and effectively apply the Dow work processes, standards, and best practices as well as governmental regulations.

Also, you can complete each of the following tasks:

  • Preparate and execute preventive inspections of civil structures.
  • Create all required project documentation, including Civil Drawings, Demolition Photo Documents, Civil Job Instructions, etc.
  • Conduct and report damage investigations.
  • Provide insights regarding materials to be applied.
  • Advise on damage prevention.

Influential Leadership:

  • Lead technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating whether design meets its intended or existing design conditions.
  • Effectively communicate the status of maintenance activities.
  • Communicate findings and repair strategies with Maintenance and Business Technology Centers as needed.
  • Partner with technologists to improve quality of repairs.

Required qualifications:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Structural Engineering or related field.
  • You are either a fresh graduate or you have 3 years or more of relevant experience (i.e., engineering, manufacturing or related).
  • You are fluent in English.

Your preferred qualifications include:

  • You have a master’s degree in Civil Engineering. Structural Engineering or related field.
  • You have prior experience in the Chemical, Petrochemical, Oil and Gas, or Energy industry.

  • Lead and support plant continuous improvement activities aligned to the PSTP (Plant Specific Technology Plan) and support the capital plan for the facility.
  • Drive knowledge exchange with technology experts to increase awareness of potential improvement opportunities for the technology.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for improvements.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities for the facility.
  • Serve as the implementation arm of the technology center. This includes implementing Most Effective Technology (MET).
  • Continuously improve skill sets helping to establish credibility with the operations team.
  • Champion process safety activities and act as a resource for relevant process safety concerns. This includes partnering with plant operation and maintenance personnel to identify and track performance indicators to be used in identification of technology gaps and continuous improvement opportunities.
