DESCRIPTION

The Data Engineer is responsible for developing, supporting and enhancing IT solutions in the Business Intelligence and Data Analytics area (from Data Acquisition, Ingestion and Data Modeling to Big Data, Analytics and Front end Tools).

The person is expected to promptly assess business needs and engage in a constructive and positive dynamic with business partners.

This position is expected to work closely with the business representatives and the rest of the Reporting and Data Analytics team to provide collaborative solutions and practices to maximize business value through technology.

The position works closely with third party partners (offshore and nearshore) and is able to effectively collaborate in this set up.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the transformation in Business Intelligence, being aware about new technologies and market trends.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in the field of computer science, engineering, administration and/or related field for which provides business advice. A Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of related work experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in active Big Data.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Data Analytics in AWS.
  • Good knowledge on Orchestration of data pipelines (Airflow) and Containerization technologies (Docker and ECS).
  • Experience on open source tools would be an advantage: Flink, Kafka, Spark and Hadoop.
  • Experience in programming and databases would be an advantage: Python, Java and SQL.
  • Experience in QlikView and QlikSense would be an advantage.

SUMMARY OF THE JOB 

Holcim announced in September 2020 the Net Zero Pledge, i.e. meet the 1.5°C target in alignment with SBTi. CO2 Capture is an important leg of this journey. We must further develop various Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) technologies with the objective of having economically viable solutions at industrial scale by 2030. CCUS plays an important role with more than 50 projects being worked on currently and still increasing. Holcim is not focusing on a single technology and solution; the scope is broad with collaboration between local, regional and corporate level. To develop and manage CCUS projects and give best support to the countries in integrating new technologies & concepts in the cement manufacturing environment, technical activities need to be coordinated amongst various players.

MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluating and/or developing promising CCUS concepts and appropriate CO2 capturing technologies in cement plants, together with the corporate CC function and country organizations.
  • Participating in the full process design starting from early project stages supporting feasibility, pre-FEED, FEED and EPC to position CO2 capture technologies and solutions.
  • Proposing, in the field of process engineering, safe, innovative, and optimized solutions allowing to reduce CAPEX/Opex costs (e.g., investment, electricity, environmental impact, CO2, other operating costs).
  • Identifying and managing process interfaces with existing facilities i.e., pyro system and plant infrastructure (flue gas treatment, industrial waste water treatment, CO2 transportation etc.).
  • Executing process engineering on projects: Issuing flow sheet definition, heat/mass balance, specific consumptions, sizing of all equipment, process narrative, emission predictions, functional analysis, permit requirements etc.
  • Coaching and empowering project teams in the countries and regions in order to drive CCUS projects and studies

PROFILE REQUIRED

Level of education/qualifications normally required:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree, in chemical process engineering in the chemical or petrol chemical heavy industry.

Specific work experience:

  •  Minimum 5 years of experience in carbon capture projects.
  • Technical leadership in CCUS concept developing, project scoping and project bid proposal evaluation.
  • Manufacturing background e.g., industrial gas production industry, petrochemical industry or similar.

The ‘Sustainability Manager - Implementation’ supports the Head of Sustainability Policy & Implementation in ensuring that the Group sustainability ambitions, targets are realistically forecasted in country sustainability roadmaps, and that are implemented to achieve the intended outcomes. This is paramount in Holcim Group achieving Net Zero targets and pledges to be the leader in the building material sector when it comes to sustainability.

  • Audit: Establish a rigorous governance process in line with Group policies and directives, and ensure that realistic corrective measures are in place or implemented to comply with the requirements. Monitor the effectiveness of country roadmap implementation against commitments and highlight and resolve major roadblocks by escalation.
  • Performance Monitoring: Develops, implements and monitors sustainability performance measurements on a regular basis. Uses management skills to assess focus areas, monitor and support ad hoc sustainability related items. Provides holitical support and cross-functional guidance. Challenge country performance measures and take targeted actions to improve performance.

THE OPPORTUNITY
As part of our road to becoming a net zero company, we are looking for a Senior Maritime Innovation Program Manager (permanent position) to work in close interface between the RMX Department in Holcim Innovation Center in Saint Quentin Fallavier, France, the Corporate Infrastructure Marketing team in Switzerland and France, and the Coastal Team in the Netherlands (Rotterdam area).

The missions of the applicant will be to:

  • Establish innovation opportunities from market analysis and drive accordingly innovation projects to establish key differentiated offers
  • Support countries in their Maritime and Coastal projects and in interface with the Marketing Maritime Infrastructure team. Multiply the Coastal solutions across the entire organisation through Holcim Coastal-NL acting as a technical hub
  • Lead the innovation projects, according to Holcim’s project management system, with multi-disciplinary resources from the Innovation Center and from the NL-Coastal team
  • Develop innovative solutions addressing climate change (solutions for offshore wind, for port infra segment and coastal protection with reduced CO2 footprint over the full lifecycle, promotion of maritime biodiversity, recycling), from incubation to development and scale-up

ABOUT YOU
