Data Scientist

What’s the role?

In the role of a Data Scientist, you will collaborate with our Market & Data Engineers on advanced statistical modelling. Hilti has a tremendous wealth of external and internal data. We are using it to bring our customer and business facing use cases to another level as well as develop advanced tools and services based on tool data. The Analytics team is highly technical and at the same time at the core of Hilti’s software business

What does the role involve?

In this position, you will be responsible for designing experiments, testing hypotheses, and developing and programming models. You will operate within agile, iterative processes, conducting advanced data analysis and implementing highly complex statistical algorithms. As a Data Scientist, you will lead discovery processes to identify business opportunities and yield new insights. Collaborating closely with business analysts, you will model and frame business scenarios that have significant impact on critical decisions and business processes.

Your responsibilities will also include identifying available and relevant data, including internal and external sources, structured and unstructured data, and utilizing emerging data collection methods such as smart meters, connected tool information, or social media. Working with global subject matter experts, you will select the most pertinent sources of information and make strategic recommendations on data collection, integration, and retention requirements, aligning them with business needs and best practices.

You will develop usage and access control policies and systems in collaboration with data stewards, contributing to continuous improvement processes that enhance data quality for specific use cases. Presenting your findings in easily understandable terms for business stakeholders, you will address results that challenge common beliefs, if necessary, and engage with both business subject matter experts and organizational leadership.

What you need is

  • Possession of a master’s or PhD in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Proven track record in both quantitative and qualitative research and analytics.
  • Extensive knowledge of statistical techniques, machine learning algorithms, and proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and Java.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms like AWS, coupled with strong SQL skills for effective data engineering collaboration.

Semiconductor Solutions, Imaging & Sensing – Integrated Circuit (IC) Design

What we are doing: Sony Semiconductor Solutions has the world’s largest share of the image sensor market and boasts a lineup of high-performance image sensors tailored to a diverse range of needs in a broad range of fields from those for industrial use, to sensors used in consumer cameras, as well as those for automotive and mobile applications. As a leading company in image sensors, the Sony Semiconductor Solutions Group provides the advanced high-quality products through integrated operations from product planning to development, design, production, and Sales. Semiconductor Solutions, Imaging & Sensing - System Solution Engineering

What we are doing: Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation (SSS) is the global leader in image sensors. We provide advanced imaging technologies that bring greater experiences to people’s lives. SSS also works to develop and bring to market new kinds of sensing technologies with the aim of offering various solutions that will take the visual, sensing and recognition capabilities of both human and machines to greater heights. Desired Skills: You have a strong academic background demonstrating in-depth understanding of the fundamentals and theories of Computer Vision (CV) and Artificial Intelligence, i.e., image signal processing, feature extraction, pattern recognition, classification, deep neural networks. You have hands-on experience of classical image processing techniques for feature extraction in Python, or MatLab or C/C++. You also have experience of applying CV and AI algorithms over a range of use cases (object detection and tracking). You are versed in the use of TensorFlow, TensorFlow Lite and/or PyTorch for the implementation of machine learning algorithms and have applied your skills for at least 2 years. As the online world is slowly moving towards decentralized Web3, we are taking actions to ensure that Sony is ready for this disruption.
