Platform Engineer – Cloud native risk platform - Azure

At UBS we’re building a new analytics and risk platform. It’s called ACQA. It’s a cloud native platform & the first of its kind, with a host of business specific applications and services built on top of it. At its heart it’s Python, but we also use other languages, including Java and Scala.

Your team:

Advanced Quantitative Cloud Analytics (ACQA) is the strategic risk and analytics platform at UBS. Built entirely on Microsoft Azure and running production workloads for several asset classes, ACQA is an established pillar of our technology strategy with ambitious plans today and in the years ahead.

The ACQA Platform team is responsible for developing and operating the application services upon which the ACQA user community depend. We work closely with quants and traders developing on the ACQA Platform, pushing change to production on a daily basis. Our portfolio covers compute, ingestion, data and monitoring services using cloud-native technologies and modern operating practices.

Your role:

We are looking for deeply technical colleagues in a variety of roles to strengthen our team and help deliver on the bold vision of a single, cloud-native, multi-asset class risk engine for UBS. Naturally, the ACQA Platform team is making a vital contribution to the wider ACQA program and shaping the future of front office technology at UBS in the process.

You will:

  • Design and implementation of backend platform services
  • Testing, instrumentation and alerting of our environment driving great production delivery
  • Cloud infrastructure architecture, configuration and automated deployment

About you:

Your skills will likely include:

  • Relevant experience in a platform engineering role, probably in financial services
  • Programming complex production systems in Java and/or Python
  • Testing and instrumentation practices, observability and alerting tooling
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, maybe in public cloud, ideally on Microsoft Azure
  • Development and/or operations of big data technologies like Apache Spark, CosmosDB, Azure Databricks, MongoDB, Apache Kafka and so on
  • Development and/or operations of CI/CD pipelines using modern cloud-friendly build systems like GitLab
  • Production experience with Terraform on a major public cloud provider
  • Experience with containerisation in development, build and runtime environments
  • Understanding of information modelling, data structures and algorithms
  • Technical architecture and low-level design
  • Agile development and planning practices
  • Excellent oral and written English
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a large global team and influence key architectural decisions

Data engineer : Python

You’ll be working in the ACQA Engines Crew, as part of the IB Risk Technology Stream under CDIO. ACQA is “Advanced Cloud Quantitative Analytics” – it’s our strategic cloud based Analytics and Risk platform. We provide platforms and tools which clients use to manage Risk and PnL within Global Markets.  The team is composed of approximately 60 top level engineers in multiple global locations, organised into agile autonomous pods of 5-10 members. We work directly with traders, risk managers and finance users to provide platforms and tools for the management of the investment bank's Risk and PnL.

Java Developer – Low latency – Agency Trading

You’ll be working in the Agency Trading stream within CDIO IB in London, Poland and Switzerland. The Agency Trading stream covers Agency Sales and Trading constructs including Cash Equities, Portfolio Trading and ETD. The group endeavors to facilitate client / market share growth, platform simplicity, and consistent product experience delivered across asset classes and geographies.

The long term strategy for the Agency Trading Stream is to reduce the technical complexity of our trading platforms by reducing fragmentation. Alongside this the stream is also building several new capabilities, including a new full stack reusable component based Trading UI using the industry’s latest technologies and deployed on the banks strategic Neo portal. You’ll work in one of the Agency Trading crews which aims to contribute towards the long term strategy whilst also supporting the current needs of our Business globally.

We’re looking for a Java Developer to:

  • Design and develop new front office Trading products

UI developer – Principal Flow
