What does an Cloud Engineer do at TenneT?

As an Cloud engineer, you also help to ensure that the operationalization of data pipelines and data stores are high- performing, efficient, organized, and reliable, given a set of business requirements and constraints. You help to identify and troubleshoot operational and data quality issues. You also design, implement, monitor, and optimize data platforms to meet the data pipelines. Further you are responsible for the installation and configuration of additional services that support the business and data engineers in their decision making process. Also you have a hands-on mentality with strong focus on platform engineering.

What do we expect from you ?

  • Hands on design, develop, and implement data solutions using Azure services.
  • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) knowledge.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for efficient and automated deployment and testing of data engineering processes.
  • Utilize scripting and development skills in languages such as Python, Java, and other relevant languages to enhance data processing and manipulation.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Azure services, ensuring efficient data storage, data ingestion, data transformation, and data analytics.
  • Develop and integrate APIs to enable smooth data communication and interaction with external systems.
  • Implement automated workflows and integrations.
  • Work with IAC to provision and manage cloud infrastructure on Azure.

Your profile and background

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge and experience with Azure services, including AKS, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, or Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Proficiency in continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) methodologies and tools.
  • Solid scripting and development skills, with expertise in Python, Java and SQL.
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with automated workflows and integrations.
  • Understanding of API development and integration.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to

Grid Strategist

TenneT is growing fast to realize its strategic ambitions. We play a leading role in driving the energy transition. We are looking for a passionate Cloud Engineer our location Arnhem who will contribute to this and that might be you?

Your contribution to TenneT

In this challenging role you will be responsible for the determination of the EHV grid and system behaviour of the future, especially with respect to:

  • Power flow and contingency analyses in a more and more stressed system;
  • Development of calculation methodologies and tooling;
  • Intelligent grid planning concepts in the light of Sector coupling (e.g. Power-to-gas, power-to-heat, etc.);
  • Development of grid planning standards and policies.

You will contribute to network development plans and network expansion projects (G0) in the Dutch transmission system and you will participate on behalf of TenneT in national and international working groups and study programs.

Your profile and background

  • A relevant university degree, preferably in Electrical Power Engineering, Applied Physics or Mathematics and you have become acquainted with the modelling of electrical networks, especially in the requested field of expertise;
  • Able to manage uncertainties, you can develop frameworks to estimate them, test these frameworks in discussions with others and then make well-founded statements about future expectations;
  • Skilled in handling computer models and have gained experience in using large amounts of data and tooling (e.g. PSS/E, PowerFactory, Matlab, Python);
  • Proven knowledge of the transmission system and you have experience in conducting power system studies;
  • Proven knowledge and experience in performing power flow and RMS-type calculations;
  • Open style of communication, actively discuss with your colleagues and know how to convince others with arguments; You are proactive, show initiative and you dare to explore new ways;
  • Excellent writing skills in both Dutch and English

Junior Sub Project Lead Auxiliary Systems HVDC

Under the guidance of experienced mentors, you'll assist in supervising the Stations (HVDC) contractor, learning the intricacies of delivering the Auxiliary Power system, Converter Cooling System, Earthing and Bonding, and EMC. Your focus on understanding TenneT requirements, contractual obligations, and regulations will set the foundation for your growth.

Simultaneously, you'll gain exposure to overseeing engineering, installation, and commissioning activities by the Civil contractor, ensuring you contribute to a synchronized interface process between Stations and Civil scope.

Your Learning Mission:

  • Absorb the goals of the overarching 2 GW program
  • Contribute to the coordination of the HVDC Auxiliary systems sub-project
  • Provide support to the Project Lead HVDC, learning the ropes of reporting and insights

What is your role as a Security Specialist?

The Security Specialistis responsible for implementing the information security plan and responding to security events. He/she ensures the security and integrity of TenneT’s critical information and processes, making sure the light keeps on. Further responsibility of the Security Specialist lies in safeguarding all data, devices, infrastructure and systems against malware, exploit attempts, intrusions and attacks.

This is a 100% dedicated role. Part of the Domain Office of the Business Technology Office (BTO) Domain Office.

Information Security Plan

  • Implement the information security plan based on the corporate security plan, compliant with the required guidelines and regulatory laws.
  • Deploy and maintain information security technologies with respect to the latest technological advancements in the field of cybersecurity.
  • Identify critical systems and data to implement protective measures for these assets.
  • Support Service Managers on operational information security topics.
  • Provide security awareness, education and communication to stakeholders and TenneT as a whole.

Incident response

  • Establish, deploy and test an information security response plan, effectively resolving information security incidents.
  • Monitor systems and data for security events to detect potential security incidents.
  • Investigate security incidents, determine the extent of damage and implement corrective actions to prevent similar incidents.
  • Report security incidents to relevant stakeholders and take appropriate steps.

Your profile and background

You are a seasoned professional and IT expert with the following qualifications:

  • Completed HBO/WO education, supplemented by CISSP, CISM, EDP audit and/or CISA.
  • At least 5 years of practical IT Security, Risk & Compliance experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the fields of information security, IT compliance management and risk management.
  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in the English language, both written and oral.

Information Security Plan

  • Active involvement - We offer you an 18-month, individually designed entry and development program. Together with you, we plan your stations in three different departments across locations, departments and countries and set individual priorities together with you. A possible assignment: developing the energy system of the future towards carbon neutral or all functions related to building and maintaining the necessary grid.
  • Impact - During your time as a trainee, you will take on responsible tasks within the framework of your respective station. This way you will get to know TenneT and the energy- world from different perspectives.
  • Exciting rotation - Due to the different stations you will get a comprehensive insight into our operational business and can build up a large personal transnational network. An assignment of several months at our location in Arnhem (Netherlands) is an integral part of the program.
